The joy of taking only the 70-300mm telephoto lens is I can take a shot from a distance and sometimes not draw attention and the festival performers just keep on keeping on, but then and every now and then my 6ft tall whiteness draws attention and a performer will stop and pose. It is at this moment that I take a shot at 70mm, then another at around 130mm then 200mm and then 300mm.
This guy was awesome. Great beard.
Photo taken a day or so ago at Constitutional Park, Port Moresby.
@mcrt - I shot 600 keepers in the past week and I covered pretty much every performer I could find.... there's at least a brochure amount of images there! ;)
@bobfoto It is great that you are capturing this history. So much of the traditional style has been lost and you are able to see it while it is still going on. Kind of like what Edward Curtis was doing a century ago in the US.
@grammyn - Thank you Katy, portraiture is easy when you have guys like this stand still in the sun for you!
@mcrt - I do like the work of Edward Curtis and I wish I had the option of setting up some poses like he did...
@juliedduncan - Thanks Julie :)
@houdiniem - eeeep.
@chris17 - impressive eh?
@clarek - this kinda festival is far and few between in Moresby unfortunately... try booking Goroko for the weekend around Sept 16.
@blueberry1222 - indeed, but familiar to this culture!
@agentzuckerguss - Thanks Katia :)
@aj1268 - Thanks Paula and awesome to see you around.
