A few days back mentioned how my project was a bit bloke orientated in regards to recent sing sing shots, so I'm reviewing the 756 keeper photos that I took during the 5th Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture and will see just how many pretty melanesian island girls I can find.
Listening to the local radio here in Papua New Guinea, the singers are predominantly male and the songs are often about certain island-meris and their home provinces, so you often get titles like "Manus Meri" or "Alotau Meri" or "Tolai Meri" like this young girl who was sitting down waiting for her moment in the sun to perform on the stage. In true PNG fashion, the performances were running 4 hours behind schedule so there were many many performers sitting around waiting...
The schooling system is quite interesting here in PNG and I've not enough time to dissect it, but this young girl with the tattoo is in Primary School...?
Photo taken at the National Museum, Port Moresby a week or so ago.
Pretty girl, but the markings on her face make her look like she's crying. She also looks a bit peeved about having to sit around and wait. As I understood the schooling system, it was normal that they didn't start school until about 8 years of age.
@justamazing81 - that she is.
@grammyn - Thanks Katy :)
