I use to believe that "Hollywood romance" was something to achieve in my relationship. However, as I get older I have learnt that romance looks like this picture. Days in and out with this man. Romance means pouring myself out without expecting anything in return, forgiving when it seems impossible, loving through the good and the bad. Hard to do? Of course. Worth it? Totally!!
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. So so true and very well stated. Love the casual picture. There is even romance in being together in complete silence. We sure do learn more about romance as we grow older (our 40th was last Fall).
Indeed, love is something we have to keep working hard at - but as you say, totally worth it. A lovely relaxed picture of your man - (might I suggest cropping the top bit off so that the windows are not showing. Looks much more stylish without).

We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary this year and I think your words absolutely sum up what our love and life together has become. There is still a lot of romance- but the deeper more self-sacrificing kind of love has increased and made the romance even more powerful. Nice shot- great verse!
