Southwark Bridge

In between heavy showers walking across Southwark Bridge.

Bit more of a lie-in than normal for a Monday morning as I had a training day in Southwark - writing for GOV.UK.

Dave headed out to work and I did a few back exercises as it's been playing up a bit. Seemed to have plenty of time but as usual it all seems to run away with you and I ended up rushing to St James' Street to catch a train to Liverpool Street.

Had decided to walk from there to the training venue to get my steps in - nice route down through Walbrook (one of the old London rivers) to the river at Cannon Street then along a bit to Southwark Bridge and across.

Training day was interesting and more importantly quite succinct and short - we were out by 3.30. Popped out at lunchtime while the sun was shining which was nice and found a nice place to eat in Flat Iron Square - lots of street food vans and places to eat outside. Had a very yummy halloumi and aubergine flatbread.

After the course walked up towards Moorgate dodging the odd, quite heavy shower, to the M&S there to look at shoes. They've got quite a lot in but I was looking for smartish shoes for a wedding but which would be comfortable to walk in.

No mean feat as my feet are problematic - very wide but shortish. I usually have to get a 7 or an 8 but with dressy shoes I can't get them to be comfortable around my toe area and fit snugly at the heel. Settled on a navy suedish pair that weren't quite right - still a bit too snug around the toes - but will do if I don't find anything else.

Then home via Liverpool Street. Will be chickpea casserole tonight and I suspect the first episode of the new series of Upstart Crow. Plan to start a new tune tonight too - probably Halsway Schottische.
