Spiro by boxplayer

Spiro perform at Cecil Sharp House alongside Leveret - the Eccentric Orbits tour.

Cough and cold still lingering unfortunately so kept my lozenges and tissues close by on my desk all day. Decided against spluttering my way through Pilates.

Went along to the International Women's Day event in the atrium - interesting. Some advice from Jenny Eclair in the Independent today ".. do not underestimate the healing power of a good hobby: men leave, parents die, children scarper, careers crumble, but a hobby can be yours for life."

Worked till not long after 5 then got a bus to Camden Town. Walked up Parkway to grab a bite at Pizza Express where I found Lucy already there - going to Spiro and Leveret too.

Got to the venue and joined the queue that was already forming - Dave turning up not long after along with R. I got in and found some seats in the 3rd row - saving some for R and H as well as Catherine and Anna who were running late.

Fab concert - Leveret mesmerising as usual and the sound was particularly good. Spiro I have liked since they started out as the Famous Five but have really only seen them once or twice live. Their riffing rhythmic and melodic layering is captivating and Jane Harbour has a magnetic stage presence. Both bands did a number together at the end and then as the audience went wild and demanded another encore they came back and did The White Hart.

Drove back and found J at home unusually with an interesting preserve present for us from Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
