Kew sun flare

A cold bright day in Kew Gardens.

Didn't sleep much - Storm Bella wasn't as windy as expected but it rained heavily through the night. Oddly the water didn't seem to be gushing down from the guttering as usual but the bathroom leak was quite bad.

Having not been able to have F over on Boxing Day, we drove To Kew to meet him bringing tasty goodies, a cracker with a whisky miniature and a bottle of bubbly. He got us in the side entrance and we ambled over to the Orangery to have tea, a sandwich (an impressive toasted cranberry and brie panini) and cake. Getting used to sitting outside inthe cold now.

After, a long stroll around the gardens: the oak collection, the lake and Sackler crossing, the pinetum, the alpine garden. As the sun set and visitors disappeared, we realised the gardens were closed as the park police appeared. F walked us out and we said goodbye.

Another smorgasbord supper - like Christmas Eve's - while watching Monsters University. Watching a lot of repeated films this Christmas. Couldn't work out why the telly was so bad - until I realised of course that so little new telly has been produced during this terrible year.
