On my cycle loop, this heron was posing prettily for all the passers-by - a little gaggle of joggers, walkers and cyclists had stopped to take pictures.
A lovely bright day after all the rain - a lovely change. Did a loop starting at the northern end of the wetlands - had to wait briefly for the gate to be opened. Rather than cycle straight through, walked up the stairs onto the embankment edging Lockwood Reservoir for views across to White Hart Lane and Alexandra Palace. Quite briskly breezy up there but the sun kept it from being unpleasant.
Crossed Forest Road onto the towpath - this as busy as normal for a weekend - always mildly irritating but can't be helped. At the bridge across to the marshes by the cafe, came across huge gatherings of people - didn't really look like people exercising with one other person. The cafe was doing takeaway drinks hence people hovering about. Got mildly crabby. Follow the bloody rules people even if the risk is low outside - otherwise they'll lock us down more.
Quickly decided against cycling north up through the wetlands and went straight up Coppermill Lane - the reservoir is undergoing maintenance work and they've fenced it off. So it's closed off and everyone was massing on the main path - it was literally like Oxford Street. In fact, they had marshals asking cyclists to get off their bikes.
Halloumi brunch and Dave nearly choked us to death by adding some of his friend's lethal chilli sauce to it. I still haven't stopped coughing - really hope I don't get coronavirus now, my lungs I think are permanently damaged.
Lazy afternoon watching Heroes, series 2 finished. More potato boreks for supper - we made quite a large batch. And watching Death on the Nile to continue our retro Agatha Christie fest.
It's a lovely composition, with the two bird protagonists and that bright blue sky. And sorry to hear about your chilli experience... I enjoy spicy food, in the sense of flavours, but not with lots of heat!
A healthy interesting morning followed by a well deserved rest in the afternoon. Your conscience cleared for a good sit...I like it! Looks a pretty route but busy!
