Our one visit to the Proms this year. Vaughan Williams's Fantasia and 9th symphony, Britten's violin concerto and a new commission - Carmel Smickersgill's A Brick Thrown with Love, which turned out to be a highlight. Everything performed brilliantly but the Britten and the symphony were less compelling than expected.
Worked from home earlier, stopping at 4.30 to prepare an early baked potato supper before we went out. Mum had taken herself off to bed when we got back.
A wonderful experience. Brought back memories. My Uncle Joe was with the BBC Symphony orchestra many years ago and performed with them at the Promenade concerts
