At the feeders

The baby starling gang mobbing at next door's feeders. They are total hooligans - squabbling and fighting, pecking at each other and screeching.

Not keen on feeding the starlings...I like more gentle well behaved birds! We don’t seem to get many thank goodness. Loads of blue tits, sparrows, blackbirds etc. The worse things with us are the crows. Noisy black things that swoop down & frighten all away.

@happypat Aah - I have to differ :-). I love all birds especially the ones with character like crows and starlings. I learned my lesson with the sparrows - they disappeared from London for years, having been a constant presence in my childhood. They've now started to come back gradually. Starlings are now relatively endangered - so I'm not taking them for granted in case they do a disappearing act too!

@boxplayer Strange isn’t it how different birds inhabit different types of habitat at different times. I have never seen a swallow this year! Harry has but because our old farm buildings are now houses all their old nesting places have gone, it makes me so sad. This year we have more sparrows than ever & the goldfinch are back after four years.
