As I cycled home, went past what once had been Pizza Express. Piles of stuff in boxes outside, including the very recognisable sign, and a moving van. Walthamstow wasn't on the list of restaurants they said they were closing last year - but it's obviously made the cut.
Shame. Walthamstow's taken such a long time to 'come up in the world' with big chain presence like this. I know Pizza Express has been struggling anyway but coronavirus is obviously having a massive impact.
Maybe they're just having a declutter? I wonder if someone will help themselves to the sign - maybe it will appear on the antiques roadshow in a few years time?
