Thank you for the write up. we have them here too and I saw them mentioned in local news paper where dog got too close to them. people just don't listen and don't keep the dog on a leach. it's sad.
@koalagardens They have overtaken neighborhoods because our govt released too many, they are hurting the Deer, rabbit small animal population as well as domestic animals. This is a subdivision and animals are already sharing a small space. I have seen them walking down our street. They do have a very important place in the system. One day maybe. Again these are 70 80 lb. Coy wolf hybrids thanks to experiments and cross breeding. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coywolf
Yeah. I've seen a coy wolf here crossing the road early in the wee hours of the morning. It's either that or a bobcat killing the deer around here, but the deer are over populated around here. More people have wrecks in the dark because of them. People need to worry about their pets and chickens if left outside at night. They are easy kills for these predators.
I know hunters in NC were allowed to shoot coyotes when spotted because they became so rampant. I don't understand why a person would take a dog into an area posted like this. Entitled people think they are above the law - even Nature's law.
@randystreat actually every park has them and they are in our neighborhoods. Sadly if we want to walk our pets we take that chance at any park here even on our streets at night. Actually most pets get killed in their own yards. Just a fact of life here. My question is why the Government feels the need to make a new species that is bigger and bader than the original?
