I was trying to force myself to take it easy today. I honestly don't know how to relax. I was going to do absolutely nothing but watch tv on my day off and enjoy the quiet solitude of the empty house but I got itchy feet and thought that I'd drive to the River Lea and take some photos.
It's not a pretty part of the river and is more industrial but it would be a change of scenery from the photos that I normally take at beautiful Regents Canal. It was so quiet along there though. You walk past an industrial estate with tonnes of cars but hardly see anyone walking. I then pass a couple of narrow boats and see some life. A guy painting a boat rack and a young guy on a skateboard who I saw a few words to - just small talk. He has a strong Irish accent and seems a bit taken aback that I even spoke to him. I generally find that people who live on boats are usually pretty friendly and talkative (in my experience) and I'd also expect that they're probably quite a close knit community as well that keep to themselves.
After walking across this bridge (pictured) I see sign posts on the other side which stray away from the canal and you can walk through pathways of greenery hidden behind trees and bushes but it was EMPTY! Apart from seeing one lone woman walking her dog and another lone female on separate occasions, there was no one in sight. I thought about venturing further but 1, I didn't know where I'd end up and 2, The fact that it was so desolate meant that there was no way that I was walking there by myself. What if I get jumped on? It gave me the heebie jeebies. I might come back with the family though as it will be great place for a bike ride.
