that's what we German's are called. Yes I was born in Germany and have been a Canadian citizen by choice since 1955 which by the way meant I had to give up my Germany Citizenship.
@Kerri yes we are known as being stubborn wanting our own way all the time. It doesn't apply to everyone. also we are called "Krauts" because us Germans love our Sauerkraut just like the English are sometimes called Limeys. both of these names have to do with scurvy.
Bruni, I love the self protrait and your explanation of sguareheads:) I spent three yrs in Germany and loved it and the people so very much. What a nice place to have as a birthplace!!
Mmmmm, sauerkraut! I love that, especially with some great würstchen. I lived for two and a half years in Germany, near Frankfurt, when I was in grade school. What a lovely portrait, Bruni!
This is a great self portrait! Interesting explanation about "squareheads." I'd never heard that term before. I'm not German, but I do think the "squarehead" moniker applies to me anyway! ;-)
Never heard of us being called limeys ??? But i have also heard of the germans being called boxheads, i think it was to do with the shape of the german soldiers helmets.
Lovely photo by the way nice lighting
I learn something new everyday, Bruni, and "Squareheads" is a new term to me! Obviously you've been a Canadian citizen most of your life now, so lucky you to be able to call two wonderful countries "Home"! You got a nice self-portrait with a good representation of your caption!
Great idea for the theme. Interesting info too...I heard of Brits being referred to as limeys but not Germans as squareheads...and I am of German (and Polish) heritage...will have to ask my dad about that one!
