Took a bit of a drive along Lake Shore Drive at our Lake Simcoe to get some pictures of the ice fishing. the huts are all over.. sometimes in small clusters and sometimes single ones close to the shore. the lake is save for trucks and cars as well of course snowmobiles. some people just walk out there and take a chain saw to cut a whole in the ice and do their fishing. we haven't as yet walked on the lake but I'll try to get some closer pictures of the activities..there will be a lot more action on the weekend.
I'm sure I remember an earlier photo of yours of the lake, unfrozen and you remarking that soon it would be full of ice fishermen, I love the little splashes of colour against the white and the dogs bounding along. Really nice Bruni :-)
Wow, great shot and very nostalgic for me! I grew up in a cold climate next to a lake that would freeze over. We'd always see people ice fishing. They would also set up jeep races out there and the school bus drivers had to drive a course on the ice as well. Thanks for taking me down memory lane down here in Southern California....far from home.
Great shot Bruni. It brings a scene to life. I have heard my son talk about 'going ice fishing', and I don't think this was quite the image I conjured up in my mind. It's quite a social event.
I don't think I'd enjoy the long cold wait for a bite, looks like a way for guys to get away from the family to drink beer and BS. I saw an article on ice fishing and some of those little huts are quite posh, heaters and TV's.
@yoelao thank you for your comment and question. it's a collage of 5 narrow pictures..the top picture shows other huts way in the background and the two skidoos coming towards shore.
Wow I cannot imagine living where it is that cold Bruni, but it sure is an interesting picture. I think you have done a fabulous job of capturing the essence of the lake and everything that is going on. I could see this on a calendar, nice job..
@becksesme@pyrrhula@dollybeads love to receive comments so here is my tank you note - thank you I appreciate you taking the time to look and comment on my pictures.
Bruni, this is great. Very good capture of the life that goes on the lake in the winter. I live near a lake very much the same. It's the center of activity in the winter.
