Watching a hawk watching a dove, which sat very still on our birdfeeder. the hawk made his move at the same time as the dove took off and flew in his direction; crisscrossing each other. the dove got away.
Thankfully doves are quite responsive to danger. I wonder what kind of hawk this is. We only have red-shouldered hawks in our neighborhood. He looks so harmless sitting up there on that snowy branch. This is such a pretty scene with the snow covered pine in the background!
@thresheg Thanks Graham. we don't get to the hawks that often in our yard. I had been wondering while all the five birdfeeders were untouched. the hawk must have ben flying over and the birds disappeared for a few days.
@pyrrhula Yes it's nice once in awhile to see the hawk abut I'd rather see all the birds. they shy away now for days. thank you for your nice comment, Ferry.
@prttblues Bev. as much as I like to see the hawk in our tree I rather he wouldn't come here to look for his meal. it takes days, almost a week before the birds come back. the feeders hang there untouched and it's like there isn't any live out there in our tree. I even miss the doves and sparrows. we had more snow again overnight. tomorrow Grace and I make our special trip to the Eaton's centre. we go there often during the year, but this one is our traditional visit to Santa Claus and I go for taking pictures of the windows outside the store. inside decoration is the same as last year. I already had a peek here on 365.
