This is a picture of them sitting in our maple tree in front of the house. I took this picture in 2012. At least this many are back to gather around our birdfeeders. They're a pest, not only are they stealing the nesting material out of our birdhouses, but also emptying the bird feeders lickerdy split.
That `s a lot of them. I`ve count 51 of them. No wonder they are a pest. But: All there is has a right to be. A fav. for the lot of and for the beautiful pic.
Holy Smokes, that's a lot of birds!! We have birds called "cow birds" that look very much like black birds, maybe a bit smaller and the males are black with brown heads and the females are sort of a brownish black! They come into our feeders the same as your black birds and do the same thing! They empty my feeders faster than a squirrel or 3 can!!! Makes me so mad. So, I quit putting the feed out until my eye heals (4 days before I get to return to normal stuff) in hopes they won't come back if there isn't any food!!! I hate not feeding the others, but they aren't getting any of the feed anyway!! Great shot of all of these!!
@cashew Kathy. thank you for the fav. we feel the same way as you do. Hans has put a ring around the birdfeeder which he can lower or adjust a bit higher. he puts it really low in hope the blackbirds won't find purchase, but the darn things still get under the rim, take a seed while barely hanging on and return for more. we don't mind if they feed from the ground when the sparrows, who are messy, drop some seeds. oh and on top of the feeder Hans added a metal cone over it where the squirrels slight off when they try to get down on the wire to get to the feeder. it helps a bit.
