A quick reminder. I bumped my right ankle on the corner of our dishwasher. my ankle swelled up and was very painful. I also started retaining fluid in my foot. icing the ankle and keeping it elevated didn't help. finally I went to the doctor and he sent me for an x-ray. when the doctor's office called with the results, they said I might've injured my fibula. might've, when asked the doctor, he didn't go into it.
the swelling crept to my leg as well and the ankle kept on being sore.
when we got back from vacation, I finally got in touch with a Physiotherapy Clinic. I had five sessions so far and was told that either the tear in the fibular bone has healed or I never injured my fibula
in the first place, but rather have bruised it. the therapist also said that it was a good thing I didn't wear the boot too long. it might've made it worse.
So such is life.

So much for medical care. Whom do you believe? It is frustrating, isn't it?

I know how frustrating it is. Last October I think I had a fibula stress fracture (self diagnosed). Went for an x-ray but showed nothing and then was suppose to go for an MRI which never happened because about that time I had to go to Florida because my mom was in hospice. By the time I got back to Michigan and could get the MRI, it was 6 weeks and it had healed on it's own. Fortunately the fib is not the weight bearing bone.

Thanks for the update, Bruni. As Allison said it's frustrating.

Rosie has had problems too. Told she'd only sprained her foot, then nearly 3 weeks later told it was broken, too late to be put in plaster. Five weeks on and she's still in pain. She's sure it hasn't healed itself

Thank goodness the boot is off and the foot is better.

Take good care Bruni!

@carolmw You were lucky. I don't mind the physio, but without an insurance it gets to be very expensive.

I am glad you are doing ok now too. It is so hard to trust our Doctors as too many make mistakes at our cost. An early Happy Birthday to you, Bruni. I hope your testing went well. Look forward to your email as well.

I `ve a healthy doubt abouth doctors. Have seen to many mistakes. But is there something : What else?

And people wonder why I don't trust Drs. too much! I hope that you keep seeing progress. This would be very frustrating to me! Sounds like the physio folks know more about this than the x-ray people- but I generally find that to be true as they deal more with the patients on a face to face basis.
