We're in the midst of renovating in the middle of summer. with all the rain we had in Spring and later the stifling heat and humidity, we couldn't get started earlier on.
August they say was suppose to be a bit cooler and so Hans started with the deck
size: 25 ft. by 12ft.
Both our house and deck is 42 years old. the foundation of the deck was starting to give in at the base. so instead of fixing it, Hans rather went and tore off piece by piece to replace it.
The seven steps up to the actual deck are ok and so is the rest of the deck. everything is made of cedar, bet the sun damage in front of the deck started to make it look greyish over the years. now we have to sand the loose stuff off the spindles and give everything a coat of paint.
I forgot to mention that the foundation started to sink away, so Hans replaced 3 beams, one by one which are holding up the actual deck we use the space underneath for storing winter or summer tires. it's not high enough to stand, so he has to crouch doing the work.
Great capture of this beautiful Akelei flower. Have them in our garden too.
