Our vehicle broke down on the Highway 404 last night. All the lights came flashing on and the car reduced the speed until it almost stopped. When Hans noticed it, he pulled over to a very narrow shoulder and stopped the car. he turned the key off and tried to start restart the car again. it started but he could only get it to drive on third gear.
I got so worried and thanked the Lord it didn't happen to me when I was driving 120 km on the the highway.
I suggested to him to take the next exit and go off the highway and rather drive slowly on town roads. When we came to a red light and had to stop, she wouldn't start again unless put into low gear. we had about another 15-20 minutes till home and every time a car came close behind us, Hans would go on the shoulder and let it pass. now all this happened in Rush Hour traffic.
We made it barely into our driveway. This morning we called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to our mechanic.
Glad you two are safe. My car did a similar thing a couple of months ago, I managed to get it pulled into a fast food restaurant. It turned out to be the alternator. Thankfully my son in law was able to install a new one, which saved us some money. Car trouble is so aggravating.
