"A bit of a failure!"
The idea is that one the glue is dry, you soak the paper and rub it off, leaving the ink left in the glue.
Unfortunately I think I must have used the wrong glue as in order to rub all the paper off, I also rubbed most of the ink of, leaving it too faint to work.
