So today Mrs B, Shit-head, Pig and me headed back to my birthplace, East Barnet Village in North London. In the centre of my shot, you can clearly see the Prince of Wales Pub, where I frequented with some good friends for around 10 years of my life.
This is a shot taken on Cat Hill, looking down into the village, taken from the same spot at the following two old photos:
- The first was taken prior to 1750, before the Cat pub was built on the left (now the blue, Kosher butchers). http://eastbar.net/photos/history/bridge.jpg
- The second was taken between 1750 and 1955, you can see the pub sign on the left (just before it burnt down). http://www.memoriespictures.co.uk/londonnorth_files/barnet%202/Cat%20Hill%20East%20Barnet%20baK4.jpg
PS. Thanks for the BBQ this afternoon Mum & Dad, we had a great time - Everyone say Hi to mum & dad Bulldog.
Originally, from 1894 until 1965 East Barnet formed part of the East Barnet Urban District of Hertfordshire. In 1965, it was transferred from Hertfordshire to Greater London and part of the new London Borough of Barnet.
