Foxton Locks

This is a view of the bottom lock cottage at Foxton Locks.. Foxton Locks are 10 locks consisting of two 'staircases' each of five locks located on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal. It was an important trade route between the Midlands and the South in the early 1800's. In 1900 an inclined plane boat lift was built although it was only in use for ten years.
