This used to be one of my half term jobs but now that I'm retired it doesn't matter if I'm a bit late. The recipe in the background is from an old Prima Christmas supplement from 1991. I can't believe I've been using the same recipe for over 20 years!
A beautiful capture Judith Love the richness and the golden tones you have created here and all those delicious ingredients -make my mouth water !! Its amazing how much Christmas Preparations we used to do in the Autumn 1/2 term hols !! I used to do my Christmas cake , puddings & mincemeat Now being a diabetic I no longer make my own pud . I make a suitable mincemeat ( not yet made ) and my Christmas Cake was made --at 1/2 term !!
@cindymc Hi Cindy, the finished product is actually shown in the glass bowl on the scale and there's another one with it's foil lid and string still attached.
Well done! Makes a good shot too. Reminds me of my intention to make my Christmas cake tomorrow. One year I didn't get round to it - and never heard the last of it!
@elinreppe No it's not difficult, but there's a lot of ingredients and it has to be steamed for about 4 hours. I'll send you an email with more details.
Rum & stout...that seems to be a recipe to be used again & again...well loved so keep using it I say!! There looks to be enough ingredients to make a few more there Judith!!
@happypat I didn't get the idea for the shot until after they were all made - so I had to get all the ingredients out again! I pinched the composition idea from a shot in a Delia cookbook!
ooooh lots of ingredients on show judith......we've got our fruit in soaking in brandy in prep for our christmas cake baking..... we bake it with gluten free flour because Jane has Coeliac disease
