Mohne dam

We stayed near this famous dam for our first night in Germany. Bombed by the dambusters in 1943, over 1400 people were killed that night. A beautiful peaceful spot now with a moving memorial stone.

I can't imagine that flow of water that would encompass the homes below. Must have been terrifying.
