Designed by Sir Thomas Tresham, father of one of the gunpowder plotters in 1593, this unusual building shows his obsession with the number three. Three floors, trefoil windows, 3 gables, a 33 letter inscription etc etc. Sadly we weren't able to go inside today as the person on duty was ill. We'll just have to return another day!
I live not too far from here Judith and have tried a number of times to get a photo but the gates always seem to be locked. Was this an open day? Fascinating building!
@pamknowler Not an open day Pam but the English Heritage book said open April to October Wednesday to Sunday. We went to Lyddington Bede house instead.
@busylady it must have been the area for Gunpowder plot conspiracy as there is the Elizabethan house Lyveden New Biuld which is unfinished due to the discovery of the plot. It’s a beautiful house - just the outside with no roof. National Trust I think.
