Lincoln cathedral

Despite some scaffolding in the centre, the cathedral still makes an imposing outline against the sky. The building was begun in 1072 in the Gothic style and was the tallest building in the world for 238 years, from 1311 until 1548.
LOVE this photo! All the red brick buildings, white trimmed windows, and gables beneath the towering cathedral!

It is a very imposing cathedral. I have just seen another photo of the cathedral posted by Carole @carole_sandford only hers is from the rear of the building.

Great minds! I am guessing this was taken from the castle ramparts?

A lovely shot over the rooftops to the cathedral. They seem to have removed a lot of the scaffolding since we were there earlier in the year.
