A display in Little Paxton churchyard showing names of local men lost in the war. What a tragic loss of life. I'm remembering and thankful for my Dad this week as it would have been his birthday tomorrow. He was born in 1909 and lived a long and happy life. He served in North Africa.
3 good things today;
1) I did some tidying up in the church garden today and found my long lost trowel!
2) A long walk with Peter, a round trip from Sandy along the Green Sand Ridge footpath
3) Stopped in Sandy on the way home for a traditional Bedfordshire clanger, and received a free warm cheese and onion pasty! Yum! (a clanger is a pasty with a meat filling at one side and a fruit filling at the other, ideal for lunchboxes!)
A wonderful tribute Judith. My Dad was born in 1910 and was stationed near Egypt. He lost his twin brother when the tank they were in got bombed. Funny that he was fighting the Germans and I end up marrying one. Lest we forget
Lovely to see the local names there, makes it all so personal. So glad Remembrance Day is still a very very important day in all our lives.
Your day sounds good with lots of blessings!
A lovely capture and tribute Judith. My dad served in North Africa where he survived a gunshot wound which left him disabled all his life. He had a lot of help from the British Legion over the years and even more as he got older he died aged 95.
Your day sounds good with lots of blessings!
