Great Barford Bridge by busylady

Great Barford Bridge

I think I've posted this bridge before but not from this angle. This ancient packhorse bridge was built in the 15th century and has 17 arches. It was extended sideways in the mid 1800's and is now single track and controlled by traffic lights.
All Saints Church tower in the distance was also built in the 15th century, but the church itself was added in the 18th century.
I caught a bit of sunshine on the way back from visiting friends this morning but missed the clear blue sky from earlier in the day.
Beautiful bridge

I love the juxtaposition with the relatively fragile fence.

that's a cracking bridge and a great composition too , the fence is a strong leading line, taking our eye to the bridge

That is what I love about where you live all the ancient buildings, bridges, etc. The architecture is wonderful!
