Or dandelions in English. I quite like the French name though. Despite them being a weed they always make me smile - as long as they're not in my garden!
A busy day today with a christening to play fo this morning and a service for the St Neots bowls club 60th anniversary this afternoon.
I spent some of yesterday removing dandelion heads from our lawn….I was horrified to see so any seeds all around & thought from now on I must never let them seed ever again! Shame as they are pretty but they appear from nowhere!
Sounds a lovely day!
"Dents des lions" or "Dant-y-llew "(the tooth of the lion, in Welsh ) Pretty but as you say "not on my patch " -- so many around this year ! Sounds as you have had a busy day !
The other name for them in French is "pissenlit", because of their diuretic properties apparently ('lit' is french for bed). Just looked-up a recipe for 'salade lyonnaise', for which the leaves are an essential ingredient, and I see that they use 'pissenlit' rather than 'dent-de-lion'. https://www.marmiton.org/recettes/recette_salade-lyonnaise_21573.aspx
Sounds a lovely day!
