We went to view the Remembrance day parade today as our Grandson was taking part for the first time as a cub. I believe these are the Army Cadets who are lined up waiting to beging the march through the town. It was a memorable occasion with a marching band leading the procession to the parish church. Then followed a shortish service followed by the laying or wreaths at the cenothaph and the two minute silence. Names of local servicemen who had lost their lives were read out, so an emotional time for some families. I only knew one of these men who was killed in Afghanistan. These armed conflicts are such a waste of life. We will not forget
Indeed not Judith. So good there are all these Remembrance Services every year, it keeps our memories alive & teaches the younger generation to never forget! Your grandson & you would be very proud to be part of it!
Military marches all over the country today. Important to remember that the freedoms we enjoy are due to the sacrifices of so many. We attended the service in our cathedral today.
We will not forget
