Vanessa and I enjoyed our Polar Bear class at Como Zoo. After learning more about how/where polar bears live and why they are becoming endangered, we played a trivia game. Then we made a snack/treat for the bears, and created an enrichment activity (bear jars that we decorated - and experimented with spice scents). They were placed in their enclosure by the staff, and we got to observe the bears reactions later. We saw some cool behind the scenes things, and watched zookeepers do some of their morning chores. Best of all, we had the zoo to ourselves for awhile this morning. (Class started @ 8:30 am, way before the zoo opened).
This picture is right after the polar bear smelled the spices in the bear jar, I thought it looked like he was smiling. :)
