Raising the ramparts by callymazoo

Raising the ramparts

An historical photo rather than technical. This is my poor husband tonight (Saturday). He built wooden ramparts which we covered with tarpaulin and held down with sandbags against the rains tonight. The river is still rising towards the house. I do wish cars would slow down as they go through the flood water on the road outside as we get soaked as we are still building protection round the front (Sunday). What a way to spend the weekend, but in the scheme of the tragedies in Paris it is very small. 100happydays?
I just learned this word yesterday from my dictionary-husband and here it is! I'm so sorry to hear about the threatening waters and hope you will be safe. Take care.

@jyokota thank you. Very useful having a dictionary husband - and a good idea to practise new words. ;-)

Very atmospheric shot. As someone who walks a lot, I agree with you about wishing cars would slow down in certain situations. I swear that some drivers splash pedestrians deliberately.
