Oklahoma Redbud Tree

We have this tree in our yard. I am always amazed how the flowers appear right on the bark of the branches of the tree.

Beautiful - is this what we call a Joshua tree I wonder - there is a story full of religious symbolism associated with them where the blossom branches represent the wounds of Christ. Very interesting to look at.
