One of our Pond Dwellers by calm

One of our Pond Dwellers

We installed a fish pond about ten years ago. This is one of the original koi we placed in the pond. There are six koi and one fan-tailed goldfish. One koi disappeared a few years ago... possible victim of a raccoon or hawk. We have only had two babies in all these years... I guess no one explained the birds and bees to them very well :)

Great underwater capture. You keep the water really clean too

A fine fellow. I was told recently that a magnificent koi pond had been completely emptied by otters - expensive taste.

I really like the gold against the blue background! Nicely composed Cathy! +F

@kerristephens @amandal @aslessknownsu @lisabell @jgpittenger @judithg @jantan @taffy @custodiabaptista @kathyladley Thank you all! They are beggars... we walk by the pond and they all swim over and beg for food :) We did have the pond cleaned this summer and a new mechanical filter and biological filter installed... hope it will stay clean! Difficult as it gets too much sun.

Great capture of him. My neighbor had a koi pond and her pond person accidentally killed them all!

Instant fav. How beautiful against the blue background. I don' think any fish would last around here with the raccoons, ospreys and hawks. This one is a survivor and he's a beauty.

Nice capture.....we converted out swimming pool into a fish pond in 1998. We have never had clear water until this year. Had it professionally cleaned and using a new enzyme. This is the 1st time we have had soooooo many babies...at least 35!!! Usually we cleaned it after spawning and lost them all, and this year it was before...LOL About 6 of our Koi are 15 years old and pretty big. Herons are our problem with the fish...they stand on the edge and wait for grab one.

@tuya We have struggled to keep our pond clean... but we enjoy the koi (haha.. it rhymes!... so we keep trying! You must have nice LARGE koi pond... ours is only about 1000 gallons.
