A Dead Poinsettia

I am sad that this poinsettia died the moment I bought it home. It was a gift, and I was so happy to receive it because I really wanted one, and I was grateful to receive it.

Yet, it’s as if everything I touch is somehow ruined. Why do I have that negative effect upon things and people? I even think that my 365 project is the same way as my pictures are not good at all.
I know how it is when every plant I get dies on me. Nice color. Love the texture. Great shot! Fav

this is colourful and descriptive - and amplified by your commentary - it simply must be a change of atmosphere or treatment.

Your photos look alright to me - mine are nothing to write home about generally and I don't particularly worry. But I do appreciate it when one rises above the rest!

It is a shame that your Poinsettia has taken a turn for the worst. Your photo though has lots of texture and colour.

I started my 365 project as I love photography, but was going through a really tough time in my life. I started taking photos for me, to document my life / world / days. I didn't really think much beyond that. Over the last 1 1/2 years, Things have improved for me and so has my photography.

I say stick with it, take photos firstly to please yourself or document your life and remember what they say - “Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.”

Poinsettias are very "fragile". It doesn't take much to effect them so don't feel bad about the plant. Yes, it would have been nice to have it last longer but really the thoughtful gift is what counts the most. The ones I've gotten end up getting very spindly and scraggly looking as I have no clue how to prune them!

As for your pictures they are fine- they tell your story and they are a way for you to get out and enjoy your world or introduce us to it. I don't think every picture has to be worthy of Life magazine- my certainly aren't! I started on here after my teaching job was no longer funded. It was a really hard time and taking that photo a day just got me outside of myself and the creative juices flowing. Over the years it has been a lifeline more than once and I've learned a lot from the people on here- not just about photography but about reslliiance and friendship which not only spans states but continents! So don't be too hard on yourself- enjoy the company and put away the thought that you are a negative influence here. I truly enjoy checking out your shots each day! Oh, and this shot- I love the curls of the petals and leaves- they are both organic and artistic.

I love this because it relates to life in many ways. But it does not depict you, because of you I am back on 365, you lifted my spirits and helped me start looking again. You encouraged not destroyed.
