Stood at the Bomber Command Centre, on the opposite hill, is one of the best vantage points for photographing the Cathedral. Last time we captured this was during the nifty fifty challenge (posted in my extras album) - what a difference a telephoto makes!
I was truly amazed at the size of Lincoln Cathedral. Up on a hill too when I always thought Lincolnshire was so flat…it was a real eye opener to me which I’ve never forgotten…..your photo here does it all justice!
@happypat it does take people by surprise. But, there is something called the Lincoln ridge, which is a portion of a major escarpment & is a prominent landscape feature. There is a gap in this, which means that Lincoln centre itself is in a bowl. The locals refer to living up hill or down hill - up hill is posh 😉
@phil_howcroft I think the scaffolding is on part of the bishops palace. There is always scaffolding on some part of the cathedral - a bit like painting the forth bridge!
