This mother was feeding one of her babies. I would call this a moor hen, but apparently it’s now known as a Gallinula - who knew! The babies are tiny fluff balls with not so pretty faces, probably doesn’t show up too well, as they were a long way off, but I liked it.
Gallinule, which is Latin for "chicken-like," describes the way moorhens walk and peck at food along the water's edge ;-)
