A Ruin of a House

Tudor Ruins of the family home of Lady Jane Grey, in Bradgate Park Leicestershire. It must have been a splendid sight when visitors rode over the hill
It must have been a lovely house once upon a time. Lovely warm bricks.

Her home lasted longer than her 9 day reign, but obviously didn't live on over the centuries. Looks like it would have been beautiful

Definitely in need of some TLC.

Very beautiful even if it's a ruin!

@claudiet I agree, but then they were related to royalty so quite "well to do"
@casablanca a turbulent time& apparently her father was beheaded a year after her! According to google the family moved out around 1739 & built a new hall some two miles away, but that no longer exists. May be they had to down size after falling out of favour?

@boatman137 thank you for commenting, apparently the chapel is still in tact, but I've never been there when it's been open!

@susiemc @koalagardens @milaniet @onewing @dawnee @louannwarren thank you for commenting, it great that you still imagine it's former splendour!
@fbailey it is open at certain times, but I don't think it's very often. I have never been lucky enough to be there on such occasions. The chapel is still completely in tact, not bad for 400 or more years, & most of that time in amongst a ruined house .
