Originally home to Bess of Hardwick. We had to go up to Chesterfield today, but once we had done what we needed to do we, we paid a visit to Hardwick Hall. Haven’t been there since Fiona was a baby & we had my mother in law with us too ( Fiona is 28 in Jan!). Spent a lovely couple hours & of course enjoyed some NT tea & cake before we left.
The locals apparently used to say of it “Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall”!
Many thanks for all your recent comments & favs & for putting several of my efforts onto the tp & pp.
What a great house. Some of my relatives originally came from Chesterfield, way back, but I don't think they lived in a house like this. They were probably servants in somewhere like this though.
@louannwarren NT is an organisation/ charity that look after many of these old stately homes. Stands for National Trust. They always have souvenir shops and tea rooms, with wonderful cakes.
When Heather lived at Workshop..we used see the signs. When we used go up there .but never visited..we thinking maybe NT membership this next year.now John's better.
