Flypast of a BBMF Spitfire this afternoon, following a Battle of Britain memorial service at RAF Wickenby. It was earlier than advertised & they do a couple of loops around the airfield & then they are gone - you have to be quick! The light was appalling so pleased with this, also liked this one as he appears to be skimming the trees.
Nice top side of TE311. Although the clipped wing isn't to everyones tastes its one of my favourite Spitfires! I see the Lancaster arrived back yesterday although only on 3 engines!
@rjb71 yes, so I believe, someone had put up a video on a local site of it coming in to land, saying it had engine trouble. So suppose the clipped wing is not so aesthetically pleasing to some.
However, the fact that you can see the pilot, reminded me of a wartime experience I had. Running down the garden, to the Air Raid shelter, holding my dinner of sausage and mash on a plate, an enemy plane flew over very low, and I could see the pilot quite clearly. They dropped their surplus bombs in the fields at the back of our houses.
