For a long while this clock lived in my MIL’s living room. It originally belonged to my FIL’s Grandfather I believe & is late 19th century & mass produced.
When we first had it didn’t work. Then one day we moved it & we could hear it ticking. It had a trip to the clock doctor & has been functioning ever since, chiming every hour & half hour.
It’s a beautiful clock. Amazing that the craftsmanship is so good that it is still operational. Can’t say that about very many clocks after that amount of time.
A lovely clock and image. I have my grandfather's old clock - it's got an inscription on it from 1927, as it was a wedding gift from his fellow coal miners in Whitburn. Dad tells me it never kept good time when he was young and it used to drive my grandfather mad! When dad fell heir to it he put in a battery. I now have it and it still keeps perfect time. I am so happy it's on my mantelpiece now.
A great family treasure to have.
