There's a sad story behind this photograph.Around part of the lake is some construction work going on making a footpath etc.The workmen have erected large metal railings to stop anyone entering.Apparently the male swan mustn't have seen these railings and flew into them and was killed.An elderly man ,walking his dog,told me this.I think there is an aura of sadness about her in this shot.I have posted another shot of her,protecting her babies,on my other album!
Oh, this is much too sad. They mate for life like many of my favorite songbirds in our area. I often wonder how they must feel when their mate suddenly passes. Bless her. This one's a fav.
