The Rock of Gibraltar(Mons Calpe) elevation 426 metres(1398 feet). No man made structure can be as impressive as this monolithic limestone promontory,a British Overseas Territory off the south west tip of Europe. It was one of The Pillars of Hercules, and known to the Romans as Mons Calpe, the other pillar being Mons Abyla or Jebel Musa on the African side of the Strait.
The upper Rock is home to about 250 Barbary Macaques. The inside is made up of a network of labrinthine tunnels, and attracts about a million tourists, annually. My other album shows St.Michael's Cave,an amazing sight!
@dulciknit .It was taken from Europa Point ,,the furthest point, where there is a lighthouse and a few houses. There are walkways from the cablecar to the nature reserve.
Fantastic capture, and I am wondering where did you shoot this picture from... I have been in Tarifa, Spain, which is the closest point to Gibraltar, and I have passed by in a cruise, but have never physically been there.
