Another day in Venice, but this time no romantic photos. While at dinner at some friends' house we saw the passing of one cruise ship. it was enormous, It looks like a floating apartment building, with many decks, which makes it much taller than anything in Venice, where the tallest buildings are four or five stories high. The Church of the Redentore in the background can give you an idea of the size of the ship. Some of these ships are more than 1,000 feet long. Piazza San Marco, the largest public space in Venice, is less than 600 feet long. Cruise-ship tourism in Venice has increased fourfold in the last fifteen years, and the city is now the cruise capital of Europe. They cause damages to the aesthetic, the static of the buildings, the quality of the air. Therefore there is an association called NoGrandiNavi requesting that the big ships don't arrive to the center of the city. Request hat, accepted by the previous government, should become effective next year. If you really want to see magnificent pictures of the cruise ships in the center of Venice look up the work of Gianni Berengo Gardin https://www.huffingtonpost.it/2015/11/10/venezia-e-le-grandi-navi-mostra-gianni-berengo-gardin_n_8519452.html
@domenicododaro i’m Glad that you appreciate the photos by Berengo Gardin. They are great and have done much to increase the attention to the movement No Grandi Navi
I've just looked at the link you posted and am absolutely appalled. No wonder the locals are up in arms. I couldn't read the script, of course, but the photos spoke for themselves.
Great photo. I am glad they finally arrived at a happy resolution. And thanks too for the link to the Huffington Post. Otherwise, I would never have heard the news about Alex Del Piero e la moglie Sonia. Tanto triste. No?
@mbrutus 😂😂😂 the link of course was for the photos of Berengo Gatdin. I didn’t know that it would give you access to all the gossip. Now you know about Del Piero, lucky you!

They've just got bigger and bigger over the years. This really shows off the scale.
