I instantly recognized the church facade -- but there's no scaffolding or line marker or hordes of tourists. Seems so peaceful and your capture gives weight and stability to the scene. Last March was the first I have missed seeing this church in 14 years.
@jgpittenger social distancing should be respected by everybody, and if you look carefully at least half of the people stay at a meter distance. But youngsters think they are immortal…plus the infection is becoming rarer and rarer and virtually nobody is admitted to hospital anymore. Therefore the feeling that the risk is over is becoming widespread. And it shouldn’t. The health authorities keep repeating that the virus is still around and the lack of caution can restart the disease. Look at Germany! I, on my part, always wear a face mask and observe social distancing. Let’s keep fingers crossed
@jyokota I know, Junko! When I took the picture and when I posted it, I was thinking of you. I said to myself, if Junko will see this photo her heart will jump in her chest. Bologna these days is wonderful, lively with young people, but not crowded, warm but not hot…I wish you could see the city now and walk around with us!
Lovely building! I read what you wrote about the social distancing. It’s worrying to see that people think that the virus is under control, it’s the same here.
@caterina -- ah, I long to walk the city with you! I did a quick search because I thought surely I must have posted a photo of this church at some point -- and when I found it I was shocked at what a bad photo I posted! The angle is all wrong. Must try again next year! https://365project.org/jyokota/365/2016-04-05
@gardenfolk @gardenfolk yes, thank you. It’s a beautiful city with beautiful buildings. This one is the Cathedral, started in 1300, it was supposed to be covered in marble, but then the project was too expensive and it was abandoned. That’s why the facade is only partially decorated!
@caterina There is nothing that old in the USA! I find it so impressive that many of these buildings, castles and churches have stood the set of time! I love that! :)
