One of the things I really wanted to do coming South, was to capture the sun setting in the crater of Stromboli, an active volcano in the Eolian islands. This phenomenon happens only twice a year, one time in spring and one at the end of August. I had studied carefully with the help of internet and of an app when and where to be in view of the volcano. The place to be was Tropea, in Calabria, and the day was the 28th of August. The distance between the coast and the island is 60km= 32 nautical miles. And I made it! I was so happy when the sky became orange and red and the sun slowly entered the crater. A puff of smoke that was coming out of the crater moved to the side because of the wind. I guess it's best on black
Oh wow, and double/triple wow. What an incredible shot. Very well planned and executed and thank you so much for sharing it. Wish I had more than one fav to give you.
