descending to the sea

Porto Venere. Once a small village of fishermen, now beloved by tourists. This is one of the many staircases that go from the little roads upstairs to the pavement near the sea
Wonderful framing and storytelling through the silhouettes.

Usually you name a silhouette the underexposed subject on a well exposed background, when part of the background is underexposed and the subject is correctly exposed is a counter-silhouette: the walls of the alley, framing the subject here.

This is marvellous Caterina - I love the silhouettes and how they have a slightly surreal feel to them. :)
