The view from a trench

During World War I Austrian and Italian soldiers faced each other from the Dolomites during two terrible years. Now some of the trenches and view points have been rebuilt to let people know what happened and how senseless war is. The most interesting thing in my opinion is that high school students from Austria came to rebuild the Italian trenches (and vice versa I believe).
Must be seen on black

I'll be in Austria next month, so maybe I'll get the chance to visit one. Love your POV and the Dolomites. fav

@gamelee i don’t know where the trenches are in Austria, but if you have the time to cross the border let me know. The Italian museum of war is around the Five Towers, above Cortina

Great capture of sad memories

With very few exceptions wars don't resolve anything, such a futile, senseless waste of life and resources. This photo makes me think about it all, maybe these places will do something to deter some people from aggression and violence.

@777margo @golftragic yes sad memories of terrible times. And wars continue to flare around us. Think of Syria or South Dudan just to mention two. With all their burden of pain and misery

@caterina So much aggression and sense of being in the right - and so little sense.
