Le Castella by caterina

Le Castella

Going South from Capo Colonna we stopped and visit this fascinating place. The fortress, built on a peninsula by the Greek in the IV century B.C. protected the village from the pirates and Ottoman raids. Its present architecture goes back to the Aragonese.
That is so beautiful. The lighting and reflection on the water are just gorgeous!

This is totally beautiful. I struggle to get my head around something being so ancient, especially if it's still standing and in use.

IV century BC - that's just amazing! And it's still so beautiful and wonderfully imposing.
