I'll miss my summer curtains

Kind of silly to some people, I know. My friend, Amy, calls curtains like these that are more decorative than anything else "dust collectors" and turns her nose up at them in disgust. The ones I will choose for winter will be just as decorative - just insulated against the minus 40 degree temperatures. This window is on the north side of the house.
Minus 40! That's a lot!

@caatjeg it gets really cold once winter hits. gladly, those are middle of the night temperatures and it warms up usually during the day. but still, with the wind chills, it can be really cold. it is warmer if we have a lot of snow but last year we didn't. we are hoping that we do this year. it is good for tourism and temperatures!

@catsmeowb You live in the north? What kind of tourism do you have, ski-ing? Interesting climate:-)

Sunflower curtains are apt for summer, I actually love your focus on the outdoor bushes, they look so colourful. Those temps are a little on the chilly side are they not? Bet you do not take your socks off - I wouldn't, my feet are cold in a heatwave! :0)

@caatjeg i live in what is known as the northeast kingdom of vermont. that consists of three counties in the most northeast region of the state and the northern counties border canada. we rely on tourism for much of our economy because there is not a lot of industry here and small farmers struggle to survive; larger ones have more resources. skiing is a huge industry but relies on weather; we have many resorts in vermont but the ones in the kingdom are smaller and not as 'posh'. we do have what is thought to be the best snowmobiling and bike paths, though, and gorgeous mountains. snowmobile trails go from canada all the through the state. very developed, with maps.
